Anti-Drone Gun Was Used for Drone Defense at Lancang River Hydropower Station in Yunnan, China

Anti-Drone Defense System - Lancang River Hydropower Station Drone Jamming Gun

There are numerous hydropower stations in the Lancang River Basin, which is located in southwest China. The unauthorized drone flight and delivery of hazardous materials by drones pose significant risks to the security of these hydropower stations, even jeopardizing drinking water safety. In response to national counterterrorism requirements, the Lancang River Property Management has purchased a batch of anti-drone guns for low-altitude defense.

Originating from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Lancang River flows through Qinghai, Tibet, and Yunnan before crossing the border into Myanmar. After passing through Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia, it eventually flows into the South China Sea in Vietnam. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, five hydropower stations, namely Miaowei, Dahuaqiao, Huangdeng, Lidai, and Wunonglong, were put into operation in the Yunnan section of the Lancang River, setting a world record for production. The significant drop in elevation creates abundant kinetic energy. Many hydropower stations have been constructed along the main stream of the Lancang River in Yunnan, fully utilizing the surging river water to generate electricity. However, the existing anti-terrorism and security systems of these hydropower stations lack effective airspace defense measures. It is urgent to protect the airspace security of the hydropower stations and establish an anti-drone defense system.

During the acceptance inspection, a drone carrying hazardous materials took off from a distance of 1,000 meters and flew at an altitude of 200 meters towards the hydropower station to carry out a criminal plan. The staff detected it in advance and activated the drone jamming gun, directly disrupting the video transmission and remote control. After 3 seconds, the drone hovered in the air, successfully disrupted. After continuous interference for half an hour, the drone was forced to land, and the criminals were captured with the evidence. During this period, the security personnel quickly responded and successfully apprehended the "criminals". This exercise was a counterterrorism drill simulating a drone invasion.

The drone jamming gun is equipped with a high-power RF module and high-gain antenna. It has been optimized for the specific RF frequency bands and power requirements of the hydropower stations, showing significant effectiveness.
